It's so nice to be back in dance. That first class back reminded me how much I enjoy being there everyday. We've already jumped into rehearsals, and all of the roles have been casted. I'm happy to say that I have at least two partnering roles and a solo in this year's performance! And of course my share of corps de ballet roles as well.
We're performing excerpts from Coppelia and the full length ballet The Seasons, along with a separate graduation performance with Etudes and dances choreographed for each of our classes in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Flamenco, and Russian Character. It looks like it'll be a wonderful production.
As tomboy-ish as I was when I was younger, and as much as a lean towards an indie/punk style in personal fashion I've always loved the elegant, and have always tried to incorporate it into the everyday.
Most of why I love EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita) fashion is that wonderful Victorian/Edwardian lace filled elegance. It's just all the more appealing to me when you throw in dark rich colors and a skull or two Haha.
But more so than the elegance you can incorporate into the everyday I've loved the kind that is for special occasion. I love dressing up! And since I was young I've always wanted to wear an elaborate, yet tasteful, gown to a masquerade ball...like in Phantom Of the Opera. I was reminded of that dream when I saw pictures from some family friend's trip to Budapest for New Years where they attended a masquerade ball at the opera house.
In addition to the masquerade dream, like every little girl, I want the perfect wedding gown, and for me it's not necessarily that classic pure white clean cut dress. I think I'd love something with a bit of an off-white color and delicate lace, something with that EGL style, but of course in a white/off-white color scheme.
Here're some different dresses I found online...some from popular designers and others from designers I'd never heard of before now.
Vera Wang
Farage

The Couture Company

Oh...so very pretty <3
I've been aching to find some new music/artists. So if anyone has some music they think I'd like (and haven't heard) I'd love a recommendation!

Ooooh, that Vera Wang dress is gorgeous!!! It's pretty and not traditional, but at the same time still classy and elegant (which is what you were going for :)
Oh goodness, the other day my mom was watching this Lifetime movie, and I can't lie, I kind of did get sucked into it (though I'd never admit it to her)... they all have similar plotlines, but they're so mindless, therefore pretty entertaining. Haha, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one whose mom makes them watch those movies :)
And, Project Runway is pretty good - it's really cool concept wise just the challenges they have them do. One time they had to create outfits using food...and the stuff they made was unbelievable!!! I think you'd like it!
I'll have to go through my iTunes and find music you might like...I've been listening to The Raconteurs and Cold War Kids a lot lately, they're really good if you haven't heard of them :)
I love Love LOVE the Farage dress, it's so gorgeous! I especially love how it laces up in the back. Perfect!
Oh I hate to admit it but I like watching Project Runway (my friends must never read this!). I agree, the challenges are really interesting and sometimes I pick up some clever fashion ideas! I especially love the challenge where they had to dress up like the Seven Deadly Sins.
I'll be posting a lot on [enter creative blog title here] so maybe you'll find something you like there!
In addition to Savy's post .... I ADORE PROJECT RUNWAY <3<3 I find no shame in that.
Anyway.
Awesome post, gorgeous gowns <3
I'm sure you've heard of H.I.M (His Infernal Majesty), but I'm not sure if you've ever listened to them ...
Simply amazing. I bought their greatest hits album recently and I can't stop listening.
There will be a review for it on music.is.life shortly ... until then, look up some of their work. I think it's exactly the kind of music you'd adore <3
I love the Farage dress! I would definitely wear something like that on my wedding. In general I love anything that laces up the back. I wore a dress like it for homecoming a couple years ago. I think I'm drawn to it because its a modern twist on an older style.
Those dresses are so pretty! x)
As for music, maybe Architecture in Helsinki? I've been liking them a lot lately.
Those dresses are absolutely stunning! I've always loved early Victorian dress, I sooo want to live in Victorian London as opposed to modern day London lol.
